5G In India: Qualcomm, OnePlus Set To Begin Trials Of Next-Gen Communication Standard

OnePlus, which showcased its first OnePlus 5G prototype smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, at the MWC could also be amongst the first OEMs to launch smartphones powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform in India

OnePlus, which showcased its first OnePlus 5G prototype smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, at Mobile World Congress (MWC) could also be amongst first OEMs to launch smartphones powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform in India and plans to work with Qualcomm on 5G trials.

This means that OnePlus could be among first smartphone companies to feature new flagship smartphones with Snapdragon 855, to provide users with unmatched imaging, gaming, and intelligence.

Speaking at this occasion, Pete Lau, Founder, and CEO, OnePlus, stated, “We have been loyal to Qualcomm’s 800-series Snapdragon chipsets since release of our very first flagship device. This strong partnership with Qualcomm makes us believe that we could bring best 5G device to world.”

For starters, OnePlus began research on 5G in 2016. A year later, in 2017, company began working with Qualcomm Techlogies towards developing 5G compatible smartphones.

In August 2018, OnePlus 5G Project Team established a 5G connection to Qualcomm Techlogies’ laboratory located in San Diego, in United States of America (USA). Since n, it has been working closely with Qualcomm for two years to perfect techlogy to meet OnePlus’ standards.

In October 2018, OnePlus rolled out world’s first 5G tweet by connecting a prototype device to a 5G n-standalone Network, via an LTE b7 + 5G NR n78 air interface.   tweet sent out by Pete Lau stated "Say Hello to 5G”.

At MWC, for first time, brand showcased its 5G prototype smartphone powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset at Qualcomm’s booth. Here, users were also able to experience cloud-gaming using a stable 5G network and ‘Say Hello” to OnePlus community users re.

OnePlus recently anunced that it is also cooperating with Qualcomm to launch  “5G Apps of Tomorrow” challenge among global developers.
