Asus Zenfone 5Z users in India to receive Android 9 Pie update in January 2019

In what could be good news for Asus Zenfone 5Z users in India, Taiwanese smartphone maker announced that the company’s current flagship smartphone will receive Android 9 Pie operating system update in the near future. Asus confirmed that it will roll out the software via a firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) update towards the end of January 2019.
Asus also said that once the update is available, a notification will appear on the Zenfone 5Z's status bar. All users need to do is simply tap the notification. Once users successfully download the update, a pop-up notification will appear, prompting users to install the update. Once users hit the option 'Install,' installation should begin.

Do keep in mind that the device will reboot twice while installation of the update is in process. One should not turn off the device until the phone reboots sucessully and the home screen appears. Asus also said that all users should receive an update within 7 days of rolling it out. Users can check for updates manually by navigating to Settings > System > System Updates menu path.

Some of the features of Android 9 Pie include an adaptive battery, adaptive brightness, enhanced notifications management and more.
Asus Zenfone 5Z sports a 6.2-inch Full HD+ IPS display, resulting in 402 PPI pixel density. The screen is further protected by the layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. Powering the handset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core chip coupled with Adreno 630 GPU for graphics and up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. This one packs a 3,300mAh battery under the hood.

For shutterbugs, the Zenfone 5Z houses 12MP + 8MP dual rear sensors with support for PDAF, OIS, 4K video recording and real-time bokeh effect. Up front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera.
