Google’s new Pixel 4 XL’s OLED display is the best in the world when it comes to colour and contrast accuracy, according to DisplayMate. Basis of their research and findings, folks over at DisplayMate have given the Pixel 4 XL’s OLED display an A+ rating making it one of the, if not the, best display smartphones in the world right now. That’s an achievement, considering how the same company also came out with an awful display phone like the Pixel 2 XL a couple of years ago.

The Pixel 4 XL has a QHD+ OLED panel and boast of a 90Hz refresh rate like the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro. That display has a peak brightness of 444 nits and can automatically adjust with the kind of content on the screen, according to DisplayMate. The Pixel 4 XL’s OLED display also has the highest intensity scale accuracy.

Pixel 4 XL has the best screen in a smartphone

Google hasn’t gotten rid of the excess bezels though in the Pixel 4 XL. There’s a giant forehead and a noticeable chin in the phone. But at least Google hasn’t wasted all that excess space. The Pixel 4 XL packs a wide array of sensors at the top of the screen (which explains their thick foreheads) - including a new Soli chip that brings motion sense features to these phones, allowing you “to skip songs, snooze alarms, and silence phone calls, just by waving your hand.”

That Soli chip is why the Pixel 4 XL (and Pixel 4) isn’t coming to India by the way. Google’s Soli radar uses the 60GHz mmWave frequency which isn’t permitted for commercial/civilian use in India. This means that without proper authorization or license from the government, a commercially available product like the Pixel 4/Pixel 4 XL – smartphone or otherwise - can’t be sold in India.

Elsewhere, the Pixel 4 XL also possibly has the best in class cameras. The Pixel 4 XL is Google’s first dual camera phone. It has a 12MP dual-pixel main camera with optical image stabilization (plus electronic image stabilization) and a 16MP telephoto camera for 2x optical zoom.
