Huawei may be in a tight spot these days, but that isn’t stopping the company and its offshoot brand Honor from doing their own thing – it's business as usual as some would say, even though the future of Huawei and Honor devices remains a big concern, with the ongoing Trump administration ban. Honor launched its Honor 20-series in India on Tuesday. The Honor 20-series spawns three smartphones spanning multiple price points, ensuring there’s a little something for everybody – should anybody be looking to buy an Honor smartphone.

The phones in question are the mid-tier Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20, and the budget Honor 20i – which is a rebranded Honor 20 Lite for the Indian market. While the Honor 20 Pro has been launched in India at a price of Rs 39,999, the Honor 20 and Honor 20i have been launched at Rs 32,999 and Rs 14,999 respectively.

“As a brand, we have always been committed to the demands of our customers locally, and the Honor 20 series is a step forward in continuing to stay true to that commitment. We are bringing in three new devices in different price segments, to ensure that our customers have the opportunity to choose the right smartphone at the best price. India is a unique market and the Honor 20 series showcases our continued focus towards innovation, ensuring best quality. We are confident that the consumers in the country will continue to show their support and appreciate the flagship features that we have brought into the Honor 20 series,” Suhail Tariq, who is chief marketing officer, Honor India said while launching the Honor 20 Pro, Honor 20 and Honor 20i for the Indian market.

The Honor 20 Pro – which is the flagship in the series - may have the same 48MP (Sony IMX586) camera as the Honor View 20, but it has been reworked from scratch to produce even better results – especially in low light. It’s also paired with three additional cameras, that offer the most versatility on any smartphone at its price point.

The Honor 20 Pro’s 48MP main camera has the widest aperture available on any smartphone – that's f/1.4 for your reference. This will be particularly useful in low and exceptionally low light.

More specifically, the Honor 20 Pro comes with -

-48MP main Sony IMX586 with f/1.4 aperture and OIS

-16MP super wide angle with f/2.2 aperture and 117-degree FOV

-8MP telephoto with f/2.4 aperture and OIS for 3X optical zoom

-2MP macro with f/2.4 aperture

The regular Honor 20 tries to offer much of the same camera experience at an even more affordable price. The quad camera setup in the Honor 20 has a 48MP main Sony IMX586 with f/1.8 aperture (no OIS), a 16MP super wide angle with f/2.2 aperture and 117-degree FOV, a 2MP depth with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture.

Speaking of core specs, both the Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20 have the same 6.26-inch 1080p+ LCD display with a punch-hole notch that houses a 32MP front camera. Both the phones are powered by Huawei’s Kirin 980 processor – while the Pro has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, the regular Honor 20 has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Both the phones have the same all-glass gradient design with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner – while the Honor 20 Pro will be available in Phantom Blue, the Honor 20 will be available in Sapphire Blue and Midnight Black options. While the Honor 20 Pro comes with a 4,000mAh battery, the Honor 20 packs a smaller 3,750mAh battery – both the phones support Huawei’s 22.5 SuperCharge fast charging tech.

Honor 20i specs and features

The Honor 20i is the most affordable of the lot. It comes with Huawei and Honor’s signature gradient finish design – the phone will be available in as many as three colour options including Phantom Red, Phantom Blue, and Midnight Black. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a micro-USB port for charging and data syncing.

The Honor 20i comes with a 6.21-inch 1080p+ display with a dewdrop-style notch. The processor inside is a Kirin 710 paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage which is also expandable. The dual-SIM phone runs Android Pie-based EMUI 9 and has a 3,400mAh battery under the hood.

On to the optics, the Honor 20i comes with three rear cameras consisting of one 24MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor with 120-degree field-of-view and a 2MP camera for depth sensing aka portrait photography. On the front, the Honor 20i comes with a 32MP camera.
