Chen recently asserted keeping Huawei out of India's 5G race will be a loss to telecom network operators, users and industry as a whole. Of late, Huawei is facing a ban from the US on the grounds of national security concerns. India is yet to decide whether to allow Huawei to participate in India's 5G trials. Meanwhile, the central government has made it clear it will keep national interest in mind while deciding on Huawei's participation in India's 5G trials.

Last week, the department of telecom (DoT) granted Huawei permission to proceed with 5G use case demonstrations at India Mobile Congress 2019, which is scheduled between October 14 to 16, 2019. Responding to the DoT's nod, Huawei said the green signal sends a "positive message" and will bolster the industry's confidence to work with the company.

Meanwhile, Huawei remains confident that it will be given permission to participate in 5G trials in India. Earlier, Bharti Airtel chief Sunil Mittal lent his support to Chinese telecom gear maker Huawei while speaking at the World Economic Forum in New Delhi. Mittal had said Huawei's products are "leading edge" and "superior" to rivals, and asserted that the firm "should be in play" in India.
