Xiaomi’s Redmi 6A which is a mid-range handset is now said to be the best selling smartphone ever since the time it was launched during September 2018. This rating has been accorded by IDS in its November 2018 issue of the Monthly Smartphone Tracker.

Now, this report comes at a time when the Chinese smartphone brand has been dominating the mid-range smartphone segment (and shipments) in India, along with other fellow Chinese brands such as OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, and Motorola. Xiaomi, also, recently released the Redmi Note 6 Pro that falls into the entry-level segment; USP of the handset is its latest MIUI experience and its sub-Rs 20000 pricing.

With the Redmi 6A also falling into the zone that doesn't involve buyers to part with their hard-earned monthly salaries, the latest report about the handset turning out to be a popular phone could only lead to Xiaomi potentially showcasing newer devices for the segment in India.

For the uninitiated, the Redmi 6A is powered by Helio A22 with 12-nm quad-core high-performance processor; the phone is also equipped with 13 MP rear camera, as well as AI face unlock. It is available in two variants: 2GB+16GB and 2GB+32GB.

Xiaomi states that with the Redmi 6A now turning out to be popular, as per the IDC report, prospective buyers of Xiaomi could check out the Redmi 6A for a price tag of INR 6000; this would be the 2GB +16GB edition of the smartphone. The handsets are live on the official Mi Store, Mi Homes, and Amazon.

In related news, the Redmi 6A would also be available in open sales on January 12. The older Redmi 6 has also received a price cut and available at Rs 8000. At this juncture, the company’s loyalists also hugely expect the launch of a Redmi 7 premium phone. If you are a loyalist, do share thoughts/insights on what could be the next Redmi flagship.
