In pics: Here’s a closer look at Xiaomi’s ultra-affordable Redmi 7A with splash resistant design, Mi A2 like camera and 4,000mAh battery

Redmi 6A was best-selling phone in India in Q1 2019, according to data released by Counterpoint Research. Something similar will be expected from Redmi 7A as well. One look at its spec sheet, and you’ll kw, Redmi 7A has every ingredient in book to better its predecessor, and competition, primarily  Realme C2 and Samsung Galaxy M10. t only does Redmi 7A bring a big battery and splash-resistance to entry-level phone segment, it could also be best camera phone at its price point.    

Redmi 7A comes with a 5.45-inch 720p+ LCD display and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor clubbed with 2GB RAM and up to 32GB stor. phone runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 software and packs a dedicated microSD card slot for stor expansion. re’s a sizeable 4,000mAh battery inside. Redmi 7A has a 5MP front camera.

It is still all plastic though and re’s still  fingerprint scanner here (although phone does support face unlock). 

Xiaomi has made some India-specific changes to  Redmi 7A.

-- Unlike Redmi 7A China variant, Redmi 7A that will be sold in India will come with a 12MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX486 im sensor – same sensor that’s found in company’s more expensive Mi A2 and Redmi te 7 phones.  

-- Xiaomi is touting fact that Redmi 7A India variant comes with a built-in antenna for wireless FM radio playback.

-- Xiaomi will be also offering 2-year warranty on Redmi 7A – which is a first for any Xiaomi product in India. 

Xiaomi has launched Redmi 7A in India at a starting price of Rs 5,999 for base variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB stor, going all way to Rs 6,199 for top-end variant with 2GB RAM and 32GB stor. For a limited period – until July end – Xiaomi will be selling Redmi 7A at a reduced price of Rs 5,799 and Rs 5,999 respectively – to commemorate its 5-year anniversary in India. Redmi 7A will be available for buying in India from Flipkart and Mi.com/in, at least initially.
