MWC Barcelona 2020 cancelled due to coronavirus concerns
The world’s biggest phone show MWC Barcelona has been cancelled by the GSM Association due to the growing concerns around coronavirus. Read on for details.

Mobile World Congress will longer take place in 2020 as GSMA ( organization behind MWC) has anunced that it is officially cancelling world’s biggest phone show. After coronavirus threatened to throw MWC Barcelona into chaos, organisers decided to cancel big event. This came after more than a week of exhibitors and major brands started to pull out of MWC.

GSMA statement on MWC Barcelona 2020 cancellation
GSMA CEO John Hoffman released a statement saying that coronavirus outbreak has me it impossible to hold event. In statement, Hoffman anunced that GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 event due to global concern around coronavirus outbreak. Showing due regard to safety and healthy environment in Barcelona and country hosting event, he also cited that travel concern and or circumstances would make it impossible for GSMA to hold event.
He ded that Host City Parties respect and understand decision. Hoffman furr ded that GSMA and Host City Parties will continue to work toger in unison and will continue ir support for each or for MWC Barcelona, which will take place in 2021 and also for future editions. He also expressed ir sympathies during this difficult time for those affected in China, and all around world.

Companies that pulled out of MWC 2020 over coronavirus
Before MWC Barcelona h to be cancelled, dozens of big players h alrey anunced that y would t be participating in this year’s show. LG was first brand to anunce that it wouldn’t be a part of this year’s tre show, citing safety concerns over coronavirus outbreak. Soon after, brands like Amazon, Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, Facebook, HMD, Intel, kia, NTT Docomo, Nvidia, Sony, and Sprint, amongst ors, followed suit.

MWC Barcelona generally attracts around 100,000 attendees from over 200 countries all around world. This year’s MWC event was set to take place in February between February 24 and 27.
