Sony's PlayStation 4 is to fully support Android this week. Sony announced its latest software update version 7.00 for the PlayStation 4, delivering updates to its Party and Remote Play features. Previously, Sony revealed a number of features to its newly upgraded Party. Here is everything you need to know about Sony's Party feature update for the Sony Playstation 4.
Remote Play
Remote Play allows users to stream PS4 games on their smartphones. It can now be used on Android smartphones and tablets running Android 5.0 or higher. All you need to do is download the PS4 Remote Play App from the Google Play store to use the feature. For iOS users, the Remote Play App has been updated to display the controller at all times and lock the screen orientation.
Plus, you can also use your DualShock 4 wireless controllers via Bluetooth for Remote Play on an Android, in addition to iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Android users need to update their smartphone Android 10. This functionality is being rolled out with iOS 13, iPadOS 13, or macOS Catalina starting this month.
Party Feature
Sony PlayStation 4's Party feature come in handy when playing games alongside friends. Now, the PS4 party has certain new features to offer. Sony has increased the maximum number of Party users to 16. Earlier, there could only be maximum of 8 Party members. Sony says it also improved Network connectivity and audio quality. Now, it also adds Accessibility support with Chat Transcription.
"Within the Party feature, you will experience better network connectivity and audio quality. The improved back-end now improves network connectivity and allows users to overcome connectivity issues previously experienced when connecting with other users," Sony said in its blog post.
Last but not least, the PS4 Party App will also provide users with a new Chat Transcription feature for US users via the PS4 Second Screen App on their smartphone. It supports US English and converts party voice chat to text. It enables users to enter text that is read aloud to other party members.
If you connect your Android smartphone to PS4 during a Party, you will see a Party tab with the new functionality available to users.
