Even though Realme is an Oppo spin-off brand, it likes to do things differently. biggest difference is its clear-cut strategy to target under Rs 20,000 price segment in India taking on Xiaomi’s Redmi lineup, and giving it quite a run for its money. One thing that still connects Realme and Oppo is ColorOS – which is Oppo’s custom ROM on top of Android. That said, Realme has previously confirmed that won’t be case for long. Realme has been working on its own Realme OS software and while we do t kw anything about it just yet, it seems it’s coming soon w.

Realme has just anunced Project X and is inviting pro beta testers to sign up and try out its new software – possibly Realme OS. “If you have experience in beta testing pre-released software and reporting bugs, you are of candidate we are looking for,” Realme writes on its official forum, “recruiting beta testers for our mysterious Project X.” project is so mysterious, all beta testers who sign up will be asked to sign a n-disclosure agreement with Realme.

re’s just one pre-requisite though – in dition to fact that only a select number of experienced beta testers will be chosen for testing – that beta testing will be allowed for only on a Realme 3 Pro – or Realme phone will do. This is possibly biggest hint to a Realme OS, since  Realme 3 Pro is alrey eligible for Android Q beta.

Oppo’s ColorOS 6 which is based on Android 9 Pie has an all-new ‘borderless’ design with lighter colour schemes and newer fonts and app drawer interface. More importantly, software is a lot cleaner and more efficient from one found in past Oppo/Realme phones that were simply a cornucopia of unnecessary settings and features. But it’s still ColorOS, which is an Oppo skin. Realme going for something else to differentiate itself is t surprising at all.

re are rumours that Realme OS will be close to stock Android – re are also rumours that it could be in line with OnePlus’ OxygeS with a Realme twist. Whatever be case, Realme seems set to anunce something around it soon eugh. w that beta testing has started, hopefully Realme will have more information to share about it in days to come.
