Days after launching the entry-level Redmi 8A, Xiaomi has launched yet another budget phone, aka Redmi 8, in India. The Redmi 8 is globally launching in India on Wednesday and maybe considered as a “pro” version of the Redmi 8A with dual rear cameras and a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication. And it has a slightly updated design as well, with an all-new Emerald Green variant that would remind you of the Redmi Note 8 Pro – that is, by the way, also launching in India on October 16, Xiaomi has confirmed.
The Redmi 8 will be available in two configurations and four colours – 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB, Onyx Black, Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green. However, it looks like Xiaomi will be initially selling only the 4GB/64GB variant of the Redmi 8 in India. The said variant will be sold for a limited period (5 million units) at a discounted price of Rs 7,999. Xiaomi says that all those who order the 3GB/32GB variant will also be automatically upgraded to the 4GB/64GB variant in that period. The Redmi 8 will be available for buying from Mi.com and Flipkart from October 12.
