The Reliance JioPhone series of LTE-enabled feature phones are now rumoured to have a successor in store apparently called the Jio Phone 3. As of now, the JioPhone 2 is very much in the Indian feature phones scheme of things and also amongst the top feature phone preferences on the minds of buyers.
Now, as per a BeetelBite report, the Jio Phone 3 would be a successor to the current-gen Jio Phone 2; and the report also states that the former would be a smartphone rather than a feature phone.

BeetelBite quotes an unnamed Jio source, and also adds that the next-gen JioPhone 3 smartphone would be available for a sub-Rs 5K pricing. Multiple technical specifications of this handset have also surfaced and going by these, the handset would feature a 5-inch display, 2GB RAM, 64GB internal storage expandable up to 256GB through a microSD card. For cameras, there would be a 2MP front camera along with, a 5MP rear snapper. At this juncture, it is also speculated that the JioPhone 3 would be available for pre-ordering from July 2019 with deliveries beginning in the following month (August).
These rumours need to be taken with a pinch of salt considering the fact that Reliance Jio generally makes its phones (JioPhones) official at its Annual General Meetings (AGMs). Hence, it would make sense to wait till the next AGM of the Mukesh Ambani-led telco which has been disrupting the Indian telecom scene from 2016.

In other Reliance Jio-related updates, the company’s prepaid recharge of Rs 1699 is now live with its USP being a complete 365-day validity period. Benefits of this scheme include free+unlimited voice calling, 1GB 4G data per day, 11 free text messages per day, and free roaming. Annual validity periods, on prepaid recharges, have now been introduced by almost all major telcos; Vodafone India recently announced an annual recharge scheme at Rs 1499 that is currently live for certain users in select circles, the telco also has a Rs 1699 365-day validity plan in wider circulation.
