Samsung Galaxy Fold Rumoured to Be A Game-Changer: Foldable Smartphone Could Be Launched Early
It is rumoured that Samsung would launch a foldable smartphone called Galaxy Fold. This handset could also come with 600mAh battery and three cameras.
There could be a next-gen foldable smartphone from Samsung and this is rumoured to follow after the South-Korean manufacturer’s purported Galaxy S10 that is slated to be launched in February 2018. At this point in time, it is has been widely expected that there would be a flurry of next-gen phones from all of the leading brands and these could very well start yet another healthy smartphone war as far as resulting in buyers being spoilt for choice is concerned.
Now, as per a LetsGoDigital report (translated), there would be a new Samsung foldable handset which is termed in this report as “Samsung Fold” (could be a codename for a new prototype), having provision for two batteries (not one). LetsGoDigital, in turn, quotes the findings of CGS-CIMB research that have seemingly hinted at a foldable smartphone revolution and Samsung’s gain of substantial market share whist competing with the likes of Apple, Huawei, LG, and others.
Also, foldable smartphones are estimated to strike the right chords amongst buyers and the market share forecast by the CGS-CIMB research report is that foldable phones would apparently account for global smartphone sales in excess of 9% per year. In addition to these “estimates”, multiple rumoured key technical specifications about the Samsung Galaxy Fold foldable smartphone have also surfaced and as per these, there would be two foldable smartphones (from Samsung) offering key technical aspects such as:
- 7.3-inch display; two displays could also be featured
- 5000 mAh -600 mAh battery; two batteries rumoured
- 12 MP dual main cameras
- 8 MP single secondary snapper
Commercially, the foldable smartphones, in case official during 2019, could begin operations by 2020 (wider rollout). However, it all depends on the price-point; if this is competitive, then there could indeed be another positive revolution in the smartphones segment globally.
At this juncture, it is worth noting that rumor mills are abuzz with Samsung coming out with its next-gen Galaxy S10 smartphone in February during an “Unpacked” even before the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019) next year. Internal storage offered by a variant of this handset is speculated to be a massive 1TB. here to check out more features of the purported Samsung Galaxy S10 premium.
