Samsung had recently confirmed that it had seemingly fixed the Galaxy Fold and will relaunch it in select markets in September. Now, serial tipster Evan Blass has tipped that the infamous Galaxy Fold will be launched (in the US, possibly) on September 27. Separate reports coming from Korea suggest Samsung will relaunch the Galaxy Fold at IFA on September 6 – with pre-orders beginning immediately post the announcement. Samsung will reportedly start shipping the Galaxy Fold in Korea from September 11.
“Samsung has taken the time to fully evaluate the product design, make necessary improvements and run rigorous tests to validate the changes we made,” Samsung had informed via a blog post in July. A September window for a relaunch was also confirmed, although the company didn’t announce any specific date – it is yet to announce an official date, for that matter. Whether or not Samsung is looking to make some sort of announcement regarding the Galaxy Fold at IFA is something only time will tell – and because September 6 is just two days from now, we’ll know soon enough. Going by Evan Blass’ track record with exclusive leaks, we have reason to believe, the September 27 availability of the Galaxy Fold in the US might just be real – but again, we’ll have to wait and watch out on that one as well.

What went wrong
The Galaxy Fold was pulled off the shelves ahead of its scheduled April 26 launch after many review units of the foldable started breaking – either because of debris that made its way inside from under the exposed areas of the hinge, or when the top protective layer of the main display (which looked like it was a screen protector) was peeled off. Samsung had recalled all the review units and started an internal investigation to find out the root cause(s) of the problem.
Samsung Galaxy Fold fixed?
Samsung has confirmed that it has extended the top protective layer of the display beyond the bezel, so it’s apparent it’s an “integral” part of the display – and isn’t meant to be removed. The company has also strengthened the top and bottom of the hinge area by adding protection caps and reduced the space between the hinge and body to prevent debris from entering. Samsung has also apparently used the time out to work on the Galaxy Fold’s software “optimizing more apps and services for its unique foldable UX.”
