The Samsung Galaxy Fold will be available for pre-order again on October 11. This will notably be the second time that Samsung will put up the Galaxy Fold – a high-end foldable that costs a whopping Rs 6,49,000 lakh – for pre-order after a seemingly “overwhelming response” during the first round. Samsung, is again, not revealing the number of units that it plans to make available on October 11.

According to an IANS report, the Samsung Galaxy Fold was sold out in just 30 minutes after it was put up on pre-order on February 20. The report further said that Samsung had put up 1,600 units of the Galaxy Fold on sale during the first round and that all those who pre-ordered the Galaxy Fold, “paid the full amount of Rs 1,64,999 upfront -- another first in the super-premium smartphone segment.”

“After the overwhelming responses during the first pre-booking of Galaxy Fold, Samsung will be starting a second round of pre-booking in India on October 11, 2019. Consumers looking to buy Samsung’s most premium smartphone can log on to Samsung’s official online store to purchase Galaxy Fold,” Samsung said in a statement, adding that the pre-order link for the Galaxy Fold will be activated at 12PM on October 11.

The Galaxy Fold is also simultaneously up for pre-order offline in 35 cities across select 315 outlets, including the Samsung Opera House in Bengaluru. Those who pre-order the Galaxy Fold on Samsung India’s online store and Samsung Shop will be eligible to get their device delivered to them through a concierge, with shipping to commence from October 20. It would be interesting to see if Samsung plans to sell the Galaxy Fold in India post October 20. Samsung has been selling the Galaxy Fold globally in limited numbers, and something similar is expected from its strategy in India as well. That said, whether there would be a change depending on encouraging demand is something only time will tell.

But whatever be the case, it seems that the Galaxy Fold is off to a good start in India even though it has been marred by controversy owing to its seemingly questionable durability.
