Samsung too is notching up towards this new smartphone trend

In what could be a terrible news for notch haters, one of the world’s largest smartphone brands Samsung has now decided to feature a notch on their smartphones. Samsung, at its recently-held developer’s conference in San Francisco, introduced to the world three different notch designs that it plans to implement on its phones in the future.

Samsung seems to be truly invested in the idea as they talked about multiple notch designs such as Infinity-U, Infinity-V and Infinity-O. Infinity-U resembles the Essential Phone’s curved half oval at the centre of the screen favourite. Meanwhile, Infinity-V is more or less similar to U except that it has four edges instead of a curved half oval at the centre. Lastly, Infinity-O comes with a full circular cutout at a rather odd placement, similar to what Asus could be planning to implement on its upcoming Zenfone 6.

Notches are no longer an unknown territory in the smartphone space. Most of the brands have been opting for one these days regardless of their shape and size and some could be taking it too far like the Asus Zenfone 6, if the rumours are to be believed.

Ever since Apple announced its tenth-anniversary special iPhone X last year with a wide notch above its display, the notch has become a fad, especially among the Chinese brands. Even the latest iPhones feature a wide notch. OnePlus, on the other hand, decided to “settle” with a small, waterdrop notch this time around with OnePlus 6T.

Although Samsung is late to join in on the notch bandwagon, the company is also known to stay clear from hasty decisions especially concerning their design. Even with Google's third generation phone, it was believed that Google will go for the notch with at least one of its latest Pixels this time around, courtesy of a provision made for developers to create apps that are compatible with the notched display in Google’s latest Android Pie operating system.

While some users love the idea of a notched display many others find it a little difficult to get accustomed to it. From where we see it, you can love the notch or hate it but with your favourite brands notching it up, you certainly can't ignore it anymore!
