We knew this was coming but it’s always nice to have more clarity. The soon-to-launch Samsung W20 5G will be in fact a rebranded Galaxy Fold with 5G, according to a new TENAA listing. The phone in question will be exclusive to China and will be sold by China Telecom – it's yet to be seen if it would be coming to more carriers.

The teaser that China Telecom had first shared had suggested that the W20 5G would be a flip phone like the soon-to-launch Moto Razr 2019. But then another teaser from the same carrier, that revealed the phone’s launch date, confirmed that wouldn’t be the case. Rather it would be like the Galaxy Fold. And as it turns out, the W20 5G is indeed going to be a Galaxy Fold with 5G support.

According to the TENAA listing, the W20 5G will have 4.6-inch secondary cover display and measure 160.9x117.9x6.9mm - same as the Galaxy Fold. The battery capacity is listed as 4,135mAh which is slightly less than the Galaxy Fold’s but this could be just an error considering that these are preliminary specs. The Galaxy Fold has two batteries which entail in a total battery capacity of 4,380mAh.

As is usually the norm, the TENAA listing is also accompanied by a few sample images of the phone for profile purposes – again, identical to the Galaxy Fold

Samsung’s W-series phones may have always been old-school clamshell flip phones, but they’ve always been high-end flagships – in line with the company’s Galaxy S and Galaxy Note flagship phones. All this is going to change this year with the flip feature phone form factor giving way to a futuristic foldable design – with top-tier specs. Sadly, Samsung has been making these devices for the China market only – there's one W-series phone launched almost every year since its inception.

The Galaxy Fold has seemingly been very popular in China. Something similar will be expected from the W20 5G as well.
