Vivo S5 launched with punch-hole display, quad rear cameras and more

Vivo has launched the Vivo S5 in China. The Vivo S5 is a mid-range phone with a punch-hole display, quad rear cameras and a sizeable 4,100mAh battery. While the base variant of the Vivo S5 will cost CNY 2,698 (roughly Rs 27,500), the top-end model of the phone will be available for CNY 2,998 (roughly Rs 30,600).  

Vivo S5 specs and features

Speaking of specs, the Vivo S5 comes with a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080p+ or full-HD+ resolution. The phone has a punch-hole design that houses a 32MP selfie camera. The Vivo S5 has four rear cameras arranged inside a distinct diamond patterned module – there's a 48MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP depth, and 2MP macro lens.

Under the hood, the Vivo S5 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor paired with up to 256GB storage. The phone is backed by a 4,100mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging. The Vivo S5 has an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication. 

The Vivo S5 looks like some sort of successor to the Vivo S1 which was recently launched in India. To recap, the Vivo S1 has a 6.38-inch 1080p+ Super AMOLED display with waterdrop-style notch and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P65 processor paired with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. The Vivo S1 further packs a massive 4,500mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging.

On to the cameras, the Vivo S1 comes with triple rear cameras – a 16MP main camera with f/1.78 aperture, an 8MP wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and another 2MP sensor for portrait photography. On the front, the S1 comes with a 32MP camera. 

In other news, Vivo is gearing to launch the Vivo U20 in India on November 22.

The Vivo U20 will look a lot like the U10 in design with what should be a plastic back with a glossy light-bending finish. There will be a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication and triple rear cameras. On the front, the U20 will come with a waterdrop-style notch – like the U10. 

In terms of core hardware, the U20 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor paired with up to 6GB RAM. The Vivo U20 will feature UFS2.1 storage like the Realme XT and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro. More details are awaited.
