Now, we could spot this package still being active for select telecom circles. As far as benefits are concerned, the Rs 129 prepaid scheme is valid for a period of 28 days. The overall data offering is 2GB data. The biggest plus of this scheme is that it offers truly unlimited calls, without IUC constraints and reduction in the overall call time per day to 250 minutes.

There is no talktime offered under Vodafone’s Rs 129 scheme. It is an unlimited offering. A certain advantage of this scheme is that it lets people preferring to increasingly speak with their loved ones indulge in just this. Now, these are the user section preferring to use voice calls, more than data. Data here could be limited to basic usage such as WhatsApp and Facebook (internet basics). Hence, the wide majority of even Vodafone loyalists could potentially choose to stay away from this scheme. Nonetheless, the Rs 129 scheme is currently reflecting on Vodafone’s eRecharge portal.

In related news, Vodafone has posted a record loss of 520000crores during its recent quarterly results call. These come amidst rumors of a shutdown in India operations. On the other hand, Reliance Jio is slated to roll-out full-fledged JioFibre broadband services. The telco has been active in introducing newer prepaid tariff plans with the latest being customized IUC-specific recharges, These start from as low as Rs 10 and offer 124 minimum free minutes of talktime to other non-Jio numbers. Jio is also compensating for “every Rs 10 spent on IUC” with additional data.
