Vodafone Rs 1499 365-Day Prepaid Plan Said To Be Live In A Single Circle Now
As stated by a representative of Vodafone, the Rs 1499 annual recharge plan is currently live in the Mumbai circle. This could expand to other circles soon.
Incumbent telco Vodafone-Idea which recently was speculated to have rolled out the Rs 1499 annual recharge plan for prepaid subscribers offering free unlimited calling and 1GB 4G data per day is now said to be live only for the Mumbai circle. This means that the plan could be phased.
As stated by a representative of Vodafone, the Rs 1499 annual recharge plan is currently live in the Mumbai circle where subscribers get to experience unlimited calling plus 1GB 4G data in a day along with 100 free conventional text messages in a day with no blackout days applicable. Earlier, it was speculated that the Vodafone Rs 1499 was live on a PAN-India basis.
Now, Vodafone stated that the plan would be expanded to all circles in the near future. This means that the current rollout could be phased before the plan gets to cover all prepaid subscribers across all circles of operation of the telco.
Hence, if you are a prepaid Vodafone subscriber in Mumbai, do check if the Rs 1499 annual scheme valid for a period of 365-days is live in the region. Also, it should be only a matter of time before this scheme is rolled out to other circles where Vodafone-Idea has operations.
You could also check the myVodafone application and the official Vodafone recharge portal. At this juncture, it is worth noting that Reliance Jio also has an annual prepaid scheme at Rs 1699 that offers unlimited calling along with data benefits of 1GB per day for a period of 365 days. BSNL also has a similar plan with similar benefits with the only exception being 3G data. The state-led telco is said to be rolling out 4G mobile services by February 2019.
Hence, with annual recharge packs for prepaid users being the criteria, it seems that this could turn into a new trend as the new year progresses. Here, we think this might not have anything to do with competition amongst the incumbent telcos and Jio which is a fairly new entrant in the Indian telecom sector.
