Xiaomi launches Redmi 7A with splash-resistance, big battery and 2-year warranty in India for Rs 5,999

Xiaomi launched entry-level Redmi 7A phone in India on Thursday at a starting price of Rs 5,999 for base variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB stor, going all way to Rs 6,199 for top-end variant with 2GB RAM and 32GB stor. For a limited period – until July end – Xiaomi will be selling Redmi 7A at a reduced price of Rs 5,799 and Rs 5,999 respectively – to commemorate its 5-year anniversary in India. Redmi 7A will be available for buying in India from July 11 from Flipkart and Mi.com/in - and via offline stores soon after. 

A follow-up to last year’s Redmi 6A, Redmi 7A brings a big battery and splash-resistance to entry-level phone segment. Redmi 6A was best-selling phone in India in Q1 2019, according to data released by Counterpoint Research and something similar will be expected from Redmi 7A as well. 

Although India variant of Redmi 7A is largely similar to its China variant, Xiaomi has me some India-specific upgres to phone. Unlike Redmi 7A China variant, Redmi 7A that will be sold in India will come with a 12MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX486 im sensor – same sensor that’s found in company’s more expensive Mi A2 and Redmi te 7 phones. Plus, Xiaomi is touting fact that Redmi 7A India variant comes with a built-in antenna for wireless FM rio playback. Xiaomi will be also offering 2-year warranty on Redmi 7A – which is a first for any Xiaomi product in India. 

Redmi 7A is an entry-level smartphone designed for fist-time users who’re looking to make a switch from a feature phone – without burning a hole in ir pocket. It comes with a 5.45-inch 720p+ LCD display and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor under hood paired with up to 2GB RAM and up to 32GB stor. phone runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 software and packs a dedicated microSD card slot for stor expansion. re’s a sizeable 4,000mAh battery inside and micro-USB port for charging and data syncing. Redmi 7A comes with a 5MP front camera.  

Elsewhere, body of Redmi 7A is me entirely out of plastic and re’s fingerprint scanner here (although phone does support face unlock). phone will be available in Matte Blue, Matte Black and Matte Gold options.
