Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 8 in India starting at Rs 9,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the top end 6GB/128GB model sells for Rs 12,999.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 specs and features

Speaking of core specs, the Redmi Note 8 comes with a 6.39-inch 1080p+ IPS LCD display with Xiaomi’s dot-notch or waterdrop-style notch – which also houses a 13MP selfie camera. There’s Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front as well as on the back, and P2i coating for splash resistance. The Redmi Note 8 has a 48MP main plus 8MP ultra-wide plus 2MP depth plus 2MP macro quad rear camera setup.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 8 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor paired with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage which is also expandable via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. Software inside is Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10. The Redmi Note 8 further comes with a 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging through USB Type-C. Xiaomi will be bundling a fast charger in the box this time.

The Redmi Note 8 is a good buy for those looking for a wholesome package under Rs 10,000. The price difference between the 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB variants may be only Rs 200, but it should also be remembered that there’s always some disparity between online and offline products. Xiaomi is probably one of the few companies in India that tries to offer some parity between the two sales channels with regards to its products.
