Xiaomi to launch a 48MP camera phone?

Xiaomi may be planning to release a new phone in January 2019 with a 48MP camera! Xiaomi co-founder and president Bin Lin posted a close up picture of a smartphone on his Weibo profile teasing a 48MP rear shooter.

Xiaomi may be planning to release a new phone in January 2019 with a 48MP camera! Xiaomi co-founder and president Bin Lin posted a close up picture of a smartphone on his Weibo profile teasing a 48MP rear shooter. Bin described this mysterious phone as “t b” and said that he is using it for a few weeks.

This has led to a widespre speculation that Xiaomi is reying a new phone to launch to compete with likes of Huawei Mate 20 Pro. To recall, Mate 20 has a 40MP sensor alongside a 20MP ultrawide sensor and an 8MP telephoto sensor.

re are only two sensors available out re to support such camera specifications. Back in July, Sony IMX586 sensor was anunced, which is a qu Bayer sensor. In October, ar 48MP sensor was anunced - Samsung Bright GM1.

se sensors make use of a technique called Pixel Binning, which is supposed to enhance a picture quality. What’s more, se sensors also enable for high-quality digital zoom, courtesy of ir high pixel count.

In spite of ir availability, Huawei went on to opt for a dedicated telephoto module with regards to its Mate 20 Pro smartphone. However, it remains to be seen how well does Xiaomi implement a 48MP sensor. But or information is currently available.

In a related news, Xiaomi recently updated Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A to MIUI 10. MIUI 10 update brings changes like support for full-screen gestures, redesigned tification panel and volume sliders, enhanced multitasking manment, natural sound system and more.
