PlayStation Network suffers global outage as PS4, PS5 gamers go offline: Here's what Sony has to say

Sony's PlayStation Network is facing a major outage globally. This outage has thrown PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 gamers offline.

PlayStation Network outage: Sony's PlayStation Network is facing a major outage globally, which has thrown millions of gamers across the globe offline. PlayStation gamers are not only reporting issues while launching games but also accessing a host of in-game features.  

The ongoing outage has not only affected Sony's newer PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 gaming consoles, but it has also affected some of the company's older gaming consoles, which includes PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Additionally, the outage is also affecting the gamers who are accessing the PlayStation Network via the Web.

Downdetector shows that the outage began at around 5:48AM IST and it peaked at around 10:48AM IST. DownDetector data also shows that users across India, including in cities such as Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru, are affected by this outage.

Which services are affected by the PlayStation Network global outage?

Sony has updated its PlayStation Network Status page confirming the scope of the issue. The PlayStation Network Status page shows that players are facing issues while signing in their accounts, creating new accounts and editing account details.

Sony has also confirmed that gamers are facing issues while launching games, apps or network features. Additionally, the company has confirmed that players are also facing issues while purchasing, downloading, browsing, searching and redeeming vouchers on the PlayStation Store.

What is Sony doing about the PlayStation Network outage?

Sony has said that it aware of the issue and that it is working on resolving it. "You might have difficulty signing in or creating an account for PlayStation Network...You might have difficulty launching games, apps or network features," Sony wrote in an update on its PlayStation Network Status page.

"You might have difficulty getting products in PlayStation Store."

"We're working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience," it added.

While Sony has confirmed that it is working on resolving the issue, it hasn't shared details as to what led to this outage.
