Google launches information panel to tackle Coronavirus vaccine misinformation
UK will be the first country to get the feature as it has already started releasing the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for COVID in the country.

In a bid to curb spre of misinformation around coronavirus vaccines, Google recently anunced that it is rolling out a new information panel in Search. In a blog post, search engine said that UK will be first country to get feature because it has alrey started releasing Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for COVID in country. Google promised that it will introduce new features in or countries too, as and when y start to approve vaccines.
Karen DeSalvo, who is Chief Health Officer of Google Health, said, “Beginning in United Kingdom, we’re launching a new feature on Search so when people look up information for COVID-19 vaccines, we will surface a list of authorized vaccines in ir location, as well as information panels on each individual vaccine. As or health authorities begin authorizing vaccines, we’ll introduce this new feature in more countries”.

According to blog post, once feature is me visible to more countries, users will be able to see information panels at top of google.com searches for COVID-19 vaccines. Furr, search giant will also display authoritative information in search results, and link main source. information panels will show users overview of vaccine and links to Local and National resources.

This is t first time that Google has taken such initiative as back in March, it h launched similar information panels on its music platform, YouTube. Google revealed that information was viewed 400 million times. panels are visible on YouTube Homep, search results and even on some of videos.

Google’s ‘COVID Vaccine Media Hub’
blog post re that updates to panels will connect people directly to vaccine information from global and local health authorities. It furr ded that because YouTube creates are a trusted voice within ir communities, Google is also supporting creators by connecting m with leing health experts to make helpful and engaging content for ir audiences about COVID-19 and vaccines. company also asserted that Google News Initiative is providing an ditional $1.5 million to fund creation of a COVID-19 vaccine Media Hub and support new fact-checking research.
media hub will be a resource for providing around--clock access to scientific expertise and research updates. “ initiative includes science media centres and public health experts from Latin America, Africa, Europe, rth America and Asia-Pacific region, with content being me available in seven langus,” Google said.
