The Virunga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Of late, unchecked and illegal poaching activities in the park are on the rise due to the recent military turmoil in the country. The Elite AntiPoaching Units and Combat Trackers is a group of 600 anti-poachers who are tasked to protect the gorillas at the Virunga.

The rangers at the Virunga National Park have posed for pictures and selfies with gorillas in the past as well, which goes to show the close bond between the humans and the gorillas.
