How to record calls on iPhone with iOS 18.1

After years of resisting functionality, Apple finally introduced ability to record phone calls on iPhone with recently rolled-out iOS 18.1 update. While new functionality will work on all iOS 18.1-compatible iPhone models, it uses Apple Intelligence features for transcription functionality. Call recording on iPhones works similarly to how it works on Android phones, involving an anuncement for both users on a line that call recording has started.

Before jumping on bandwagon, iPhone users must ensure ir device runs latest iOS 18.1 update and that ir device is one of following:

• iPhone 15 Plus

However, since Apple Intelligence is available only on iPhone 16 series, iPhone 16 Pro series, and iPhone 15 Pro lineup, call transcript feature will t work on remaining iPhone models. Users also need to activate Apple Intelligence on ir supported iPhone devices by setting device langu to US English.

Recording a Call

• Start a Call: Make or receive a call as rmal.  
• Tap Record Button: During call, users will see a record button in top left corner of screen. Tap it to start recording.  
• tification: An audible tification will play to inform all participants that call is being recorded.  
• Real-time Transcription (Optional): If Apple Intelligence is enabled, a real-time transcription of conversation will appear on your screen.

Accessing Recordings

• End Call: Once call is over, recording will be saved to Voice tes app.  
• Find Recording: Open Voice tes app and locate recorded call.
