Apple ’s September 9 event will see the debut of the iPhone 16 series, which will include four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. It is not advisable to buy an old iPhone model currently since the newer ones are about to arrive in India later this month, but it is easy to find people who may have purchased last year’s iPhone 15 recently. Such buyers are eligible for a partial refund, according to Apple , but not without terms and conditions.

The Apple Retail India Sales Policy states that anyone who has purchased a new iPhone model will be eligible for a refund if the company reduces its prices within 14 calendar days. That means if one’s iPhone 15 was bought within the past 14 days, the buyer will be eligible for a refund after Apple reduces the model’s price post-iPhone 16 launch. Reports have suggested that some iPhone 16 models will have the same sticker price as last year’s models, but Apple may consider hiking the price of the premium models – owing to significant upgrades in them. It is also when the prices of older iPhone models get a cut as they continue to sell. The iPhone 15, thus, will see a reduction in its official price on the Apple Store and Apple Store Online.

According to the policy, Apple will issue a refund or credit amount equal to the difference between the charged price and the model’s current selling price. “Should Apple reduce its price on any Apple-branded product within 14 calendar days from the date you receive your product, feel free to visit an Apple Retail Store or contact the Apple Contact Center on 000800 040 1966 to request a refund or credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the current selling price,” Apple mentions on its policy page.

The policy says that the refunds or credits are issued as part of Apple ’s price protection scheme, which is available for up to 10 units of a particular model. That means a customer with up to 10 units of iPhone 15 can get a partial refund on each model. Apple will need a proof of possession, however, when requesting price protection.
