device for social-distancing alarm can be worn like a wrist band and warns users if someone comes closer than six feet to m, according to research scientists at Amity University, ida.

“It’s a handy, small, portable, low-cost, low-powered battery-operated smart electronic device. This electronic device can maintain social distance of 6 feet between two persons by giving signal through buzzer and light indications alarm. It warns both persons, having same device, if violating social distancing conditions,” varsity said.

“ pocket-friendly device is in form of a band and can be worn like a wrist watch which will work even if a group of people is coming closer from multiple directions. Each unit of this invention will cost around Rs. 400-500 and option of chargeable battery can also be easily me in se devices,” it said.

research group has been working for around three months under V K Jain, a distinguished scientist and professor at university’s Institute of vanced Research and Studies (Materials & Devices).

group has also developed a “locket” which tifies user every time y touch ir face, a common habit, scientists said, that spres virus.

“This wearable, small, portable, low-cost and low-powered battery operated electronic device will support individuals in building positive habits by raising an alarm every time a user moves ir hands to touch ir face. This vel electronic gget is very affordable, lightweight and can be worn around neck like a locket,” university said.

“ device can within time detect whenever a person’s hand approaches ir face using an infrared-based proximity sensor techlogy. buzzer alarm, LED light and vibration motor shakes out as an alert that will become stronger as hand gets closer to face,” it said.

researchers have also designed a unique of gloves which t only protects person who is using it but also prevents any spre of virus through its special design.

“ inner layer is same as a rmal safety glove followed by a second layer consisting of a special material loed with antiviral nts or sanitiser or disinfectant. top-most layer is perforated to release antiviral nt on top surface which makes gloves free from virus and prevent its spre,” university said.

“ pressure to release sanitiser on surface of gloves is generated by movement of fingers when y hold any object. Along with providing safety, se gloves won’t allow spre of virus on disposal as it contains sanitiser,” it ded.

Jain, who led researches, said group has focussed upon three basic attributes of ensuring social distancing, us of gloves and stopping people from touching ir face to limit spre of virus.

“If we can curb se three basic instincts spre of virus can be limited,” he said.
