Paw-alert: Manguluru man saves street dogs from zooming traffic with reflective collars

Cars zooming at breakneck speed along the signal-free expressway is a common sight in our metro cities. Especially when night descends, vehicles pose a very dangerous threat to pedestrians crossing these highways. More than humans, they pose a deathly threat to our furry friends who roam the streets freely - stray dogs.

Taking a step to warn oncoming speedsters of ir presence, a Mangaluru resident Thousif Ahmad has been attaching reflective collars around street dogs for past one and a half months.

Speaking to ANI about fruitfulness of his project, Ahmad said,"It has been 1.5 months that I have started this project and luckily t a single dog with a collar around its neck has been injured."

He also said in an interview that he has already tagged 400 stray dogs with se reflective collars.

"Based on my own observations, I gared that most of se accidents occur during night time due to lack of visibility of stray animals. Especially close to highway, re is an unaccounted number of deaths of se animals on road," he said.

" reflector belt on dogs t only saves lives of se animals, but it also saves lives of drivers," he added.
