Twitter, TweetDeck hit with worldwide outage, affecting thousands

Twitter's app, website and dashboard management platform TweetDeck were hit with a worldwide outage late on Tuesday that affected thousands of users. The service has apparently been restored and working for several users who were able to access Twitter and TweetDeck.

Twitter, TweetDeck faces global outage

Twitter was apparently back up after a worldwide outage hit the platform’s website and its dashboard management platform TweetDeck, which affected thousands of Twitter and TweetDeck users around the world. Twitter, however, did not release an official statement on the platform's status update or what cause the outage.

Earlier, outage monitoring website Outage.report had received more than 4,000 reports of the incident from around the world. The majority of the complaints it received came from users in countries such as Japan, Canada and India.

"You might have had trouble Tweeting, getting notifications, or viewing DMs. We're currently working on a fix, and should be back to normal soon", the company said in a tweet without providing its users with any further, additional details.

Twitter extends ability to “hide replies” to tweets, to more regions

TweetDeck is Twitter's dashboard management platform that is used primarily by reporters and other content creators for monitoring tweets from multiple Twitter accounts. However, during the outage, sign in attempts earlier by TweetDeck users apparently redirected users to the main Twitter website.

Meanwhile, according to outage.report, some users still appear to be facing issues using Twitter and TweetDeck across some parts of the world. However, the number of complaints and reports by affected Twitter and TweetDeck users worldwide have significantly gone down over the last several hours.

So far, outage.report has received about 4,500 reports regarding TweetDeck, originating from countries including the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan and 87 more countries. As for Twitter, it received more than 450 reports from users in the US, the UK, India, France and 45 more countries.
