WhatsApp banned over 8.5 million accounts, restored 33 in September

WhatsApp said it had banned more than 8.5 million accounts in September as part of its monthly exercise to weed out scrupulous accounts. In its latest report, Meta-owned chat app said ban represents company's commitment to ensure digital safety and curb misuse of platform for illegitimate activities. company also reinstated 33 accounts that appealed ir bans.
Over 8,000 complaints

According to Meta-owned company, it received 10,707 grievance reports in September, including 4,788 ban appeals of which only 15 were resolved.
WhatsApp also said that it ackwledged two orders from Grievance Appellate Committee in September.
