The netizens have barely been able to fathom this unknown phenomenon where a piece of meat meant to be human food can be seen moving all by its own.

As per reports, science journals have explained what must have happened in the video. One of them stated that fresh cuts of meat have active neurons and can react to sodium ion, which is found in soy sauce and salt. This could result in the appearance of the meat pieces moving or twitching.

The journal explains that when a creature dies the neurons present in it will continue to work. As long as there is energy around to maintain the membrane potential in the meat, the neurons in it will work. A large amount of sodium can trigger the neurons to fire the muscles to contract.
For those still curious about the moving piece of meat, a fact-checking website said that the video had emerged in June on Chinese social media. While the Western world calls the meat chicken, Hong Kong media has said it could be a recently skinned frog.
