What Canada PM Justin Trudeau Said On the RCMP’s Allegations Against India

Justin Trudeau has publicly accused agents of the Indian government of conducting activities that pose a serious threat to public safety in Canada. Speaking on the findings of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Trudeau stated that they possess “clear and compelling evidence” indicating that these agents have engaged in coercive behaviors and clandestine information-gathering efforts targeting South Asian Canadians, including involvement in violent acts such as murder. Trudeau highlighted that Canadian officials have made multiple attempts to collaborate with Indian law enforcement but were repeatedly refused. As a result, Canadian officials recently took the unprecedented step of meeting with Indian counterparts to share evidence linking six Indian agents to criminal activities, designating them as persons of interest. Trudeau emphasized that such actions are “unacceptable” and called for accountability, underscoring the escalating diplomatic fallout over issues related to Sikh separatism and extremism in Canada. This situation further complicates the already tense relationship between the two nations.
