California Battles Series Of Wildfires Amid Record-Breaking Heatwave; Thousands Remain Displaced

Crews in US’ California continued to battle a series of wildfires burning across the state. Aircraft and helicopters were dispatched to drop water or retardant on the wildfires. The Lake Fire, in Santa Barbara County has scorched more than 19 square miles. The fire burned the grass, brush and timber in its way. As per the firefighters, the blaze displayed “extreme fire behavior”. The blaze had the “potential for large growth”. Officials cancelled annual 4th of July fireworks celebration amid the wildfires. As of July 04, as an estimated 26,000 residents remained displaced by a growing wildfire. Notably, wildfires in California are blazing amid a long-running heatwave. The heatwave has already shattered previous records across the US. The scorching weather will also hold the East in its hot and humid grip throughout the week.
