Centre Denies NEET Malpractice In Affidavit To Apex Court Amid CBI Arrests and Upcoming Counselling

The Centre on July 10 filed an affidavit in Supreme Court in NEET Controversy. The Centre, in the affidavit, denied any mass malpractice in the NEET-UG exam. Centre also stated that no localised set of candidates were benefitted leading to abnormal scores. Centre made these claims citing an analysis of results done by IIT Madras. The affidavit stated that beneficiaries of malpractice would have their candidatures canceled. NTA, which conducts the test, also filed an additional affidavit in SC. As per the NTA, the marks distribution indicated no abnormality. NTA had carried out analysis of distribution of marks at national, state, city & centre levels. For 2024-25, counselling process for undergraduate seats will be done in 4 rounds. Counselling will be starting from the third week of July. CBI arrested 2 persons, including a candidate, from Patna in connection with alleged leak. These arrests were made on July 09. This took the total number of arrests by the agency to 11. CBI has claimed that the evidence which pointed towards a ‘lead’ was doctored.
