Muda Land Scam: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Will Have To Resign, Will Government Fall?

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is now facing an investigation in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case, following the Karnataka High Court's decision to uphold the Governor's sanction for prosecution. This case marks the first significant corruption challenge for Siddaramaiah in his second term as Chief Minister, putting his political career and government stability at risk. The BJP -led opposition, along with activists, has accused Siddaramaiah and his wife, Parvathi, of benefiting from an "illegal" compensatory land deal involving MUDA. They claim that the scam involves irregularities worth Rs 4,000 crore, with allegations centered around unlawful land allotments and compensations in Mysore. While Siddaramaiah has denied the allegations and moved to challenge the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court, this development adds substantial pressure on his administration. The opposition, particularly the BJP, has intensified calls for his resignation, framing the scandal as a test of integrity for the government. The case has created a volatile political environment in Karnataka, raising questions about the future of the Congress -JD(S) coalition government and Siddaramaiah’s leadership in the state.
