In a dramatic turn of events this morning, at least 15 girl students had a close call when their school van became stranded on a flooded bridge in Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh. The harrowing incident occurred near Shani Temple in Lakhnadon, prompting a swift rescue operation by local authorities.

The timely intervention of the Municipal Council Lakhnadon proved crucial. Responding to the emergency, they dispatched a bulldozer to the scene, successfully evacuating all individuals from the van and ensuring their safety.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of severe weather affecting the region. Earlier this month, continuous rainfall led to widespread flooding in Katni, where over a thousand residents were rescued from more than 50 submerged villages. The intense downpour also disrupted train services, with water inundating railway tracks in several areas.

The relentless rains have significantly impacted the Datla river, causing it to overflow and forcing local residents to use boats for transportation. The persistent rainfall has set a new record for the region, breaking a 15-year-old record for flooding in the district.
The state has experienced intensified rain activity recently, with moderate to heavy showers reported across various regions. According to the Met department, the overall rain deficit in Madhya Pradesh has now decreased to about 6%.
