AR Rahman Posts Separation Tweet With #ARRSairaABreakup Hashtag, Internet Not Pleased

Iconic composer and Oscar-winning music director A.R. Rahman shocked fans on Tuesday with a deeply personal and poetic tweet confirming his separation from wife Saira Banu after 29 years of marriage.

In a statement shared on X, AR Rahman wrote, "We h hoped to reach grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even throne of God might tremble at weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though pieces may not find ir place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter."

However, what gained significant attention and went viral on Twitter is hashtag #ARRSairaABreakup that accompanied his message. 

Many social media users felt it was inappropriate for such a personal announcement and shared ir opinions on hashtag.

One fan tweeted, “Who starts a hashtag for a breakup?” Anor ded, "Irony died a thousand deaths. Dude wants privacy but starts a hashtag trend for his divorce." Ors dressed Rahman directly and asked him to fire his social media team. "Who creates a hashtag for this situation? Fire your min, Thalaiva," re one tweet. 

Many ors said that his behavior might be understandable, as Rahman is not as familiar with social media as some younger celebrities and may not have realized hashtag would seem unusual.
