Bengaluru Rains: Viral Videos of Submerged City Spark Public Outrage Over Poor Infrastructure

BENGALURU: As Bengaluru witnessed heavy rainfall and widespre waterlogging over past week, several visuals from city have gone viral, igniting public outrage. 

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rain for Bengaluru and surrounding districts, including coastal, north interior, and south interior Karnataka, until October 18.

One viral video shows two civic workers on ir hands and knees, attempting to unclog drains near Bellandur, close to Microsoft office. video sparked a wave of angry reactions among netizens, as workers lacked basic protective equipment.

An angered user commented, "On paper, y alrey have all equipment required for safety & hygiene." 

Anor ded, "Shame that y are not provided with equipment like shovels, pans, wheelbarrows, etc. y are forced to use ir hands."

Visuals of Manyata Tech Park, one of India's largest office hubs, submerged in water after city experienced incessant rain since Monday night, also captured internet's attention. Several social media users sarcastically referred to tech park as a "swimming pool."

One video showed vehicles attempting to naigvate through ankle-deep water as rains continued to shower Silicon Valley. 

A user wrote, "All money but no planning, humbled by nature." 

Anor opined, "Looks like Mor Nature decided to take matters into her own hands and give tech park a makeover!"

A third user shared a personal experience: "I saw this firsthand yesterday... Moved from EGL to MTP… God, what a nightmare it was. Our execs from US were stunned to see all this! y walked back to Hilton."
