We have seen customers slamming the companies when they send wrong items, broken things, or wrong food delivery, but have you ever seen customers getting angry at selling free flowers to customers? Well, welcome to the new episode where a Bengaluru woman slamming BigBasket when they sent her free flowers with her order on the occasion of Onam.
User Sushma Iyengar got angry when grocery delivery application BibBasket added marigold flowers as a free gift in her grocery order. On this she took over social media platform X and showed her frustration, which sparked a heated debate online, with most of the users asking how anyone could get angry with free flowers.
Onam is one of the major festivals prominently celebrated in Kerala state. Whereas, the user Sushma Iyengar is based in Kannadiga state, Karnataka, and is a vocal supporter of the pro-Kannada movement, as her bio and X history say.

In her post, she said, “So according to BigBasket, we SHOULD celebrate Onam! We like it or not is not upto us. It is upto them!”
She continued and said, “They come and forcefully dump this on us. Will you do the same for other festivals?? Varamahalakshmi? Dasara? Deepavali?
Why give it for free for ONAM?? This is worse than conversion!”
The Pro-Kannadiga Movement:
The post has garnered attention because of the rising pro-Kannadiga movement, and it has garnered over 5 lakh views with more than 600 likes.
According to Iyengar, by raising issues of sending free flowers to Onam, she was highlighting the demographic change that has taken place in Karnataka. But the majority of the users seem to agree with her.
Users Reaction to the Viral X Post:
One of the users said, “Sister, all they are giving are free flowers , why so insensitive about others festival or culture. Take flowers use it in Puja next day or offer them in any temple nearby if not simply refuse to accept. It is no harm to anyone. Happy onam btw.”
Another one wrote, “The Owner is Indian. Celebrates every festival. COPE WITH IT.”
A third user showed the importance of the festival among Hindus and said, “You got free flowers. Vamana avatar of Vishnu is important to every Hindu. Pray to Lord Vishnu and Samarpit those flowers at his feet. And SHUTUP!”
“Stop making everything an issue. I had received free gifts on Yugadi as well. By playing such cheap tricks you're only bringing hatred towards our language, culture and people. Let's respect everybody and their culture,” said a fourth user.
