Birthday Bash Overshadows Patient Care: Critical Condition Neglected in Chhattisgarh Hospital

New Delhi: A patient in severe distress was neglected by Durg District Hospital in Chhattisgarh by the staff members who were busy celebrating a birthday party. Citing the end of OPD hours, the staff member refused to provide any treatment or medication. 

The patient was rather advised to wait for emergency services, despite his condition being very critical. 

In the video footage, the hospital staff can be seen cutting a cake and celebrating a birthday party in the trauma unit. While the patient kept on pleading for assistance. 

Moreover, two more injured individuals were brought in by an ambulance at the same time however the on-duty doctor and staff continued celebrating the party, delaying the necessary treatment until the birthday party ended. 

No immediate action taken 

The patient's family attempted to report the incident to Civil Surgeon Dr. Hemant Kumar Sahu, who directed them to the RMO, citing his engagement in a meeting with the collector. No immediate action has been taken so far. Dr. Sahu stated that he was unaware of the full details but assured that appropriate action would be taken after reviewing the incident.
