A Carnival cruise ship, Carnival Spirit, collided with a piece of ice while sailing in Alaska, sparking dramatic reactions from passengers who compared incident to a "Titanic moment." Despite scare, dams were found, and ship continued on its scheduled seven-day cruise.
In a statement, Carnival said vessel grazed "an errant piece of drifting ice" while navigating through Tracy Arm Fjord in Alaska last Thursday. Fortunately, a thorough assessment of ship’s hull showed signs of dam. " vessel continued on its cruise and re has been impact to operations," company confirmed. Carnival Spirit is set to arrive at its final destination in Seattle, Washington, on Tuesday.

While situation was resolved without any physical dam to ship, social media was abuzz with reactions from passengers who witnessed event. Many flocked to platforms like TikTok and Facebook to share ir firsthand accounts.
“If we die, it was damn well worth it,” passenger Cassandra Goskie said in a video shared on TikTok and private Carnival VIFP Club Members Facebook group. “It’s a Titanic moment,” Goskie ded in video captioned, “Carnival did an AMAZING job of keeping all passengers and staff safe and updated.” In video, Goskie can be heard saying, "Oh, we are hitting it," while passengers nearby looked over side of ship and exclaimed, "Damn."

We are on Carnival Spirit and hit an iceberg just outside of Sitka and Tracy Arm Fjord! Here’s some pictures! We are safe and after assessing for dam we are back on track heed to Skagway!"
