Caught on Cam: Thieves Steal Jewelry Worth Lakhs from Hanuman Tekri Temple
A video from the significant pilgrimage site is circulating online, showing a thief bowing before the deity while stealing the ornaments adorning the idol.
Madhya Pradesh: The Hanuman Tekri Temple in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, was robbed in the early hours of Sunday.
A video from the significant pilgrimage site is circulating online, showing a thief bowing before the deity while stealing the ornaments adorning the idol.
Reports indicate that six thieves tied a security guard to a tree before entering the temple, while another guard fled in fear for his life.
The video, shared by Page Ghar Ke Kalesh, shows the thieves entering the sanctum sanctorum and removing every ornament from the idol, including a silver necklace, a crown, an umbrella, a mace, and bangles—items of deep religious significance. They also attempted to steal the donation box but managed to escape with only a smaller one, as they could not lift the larger box.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV and has sparked outrage among the local community.
Some comments have labeled this as a 'new trend' in India.
One person remarked, "Fear and faith in God are also present, but these empty stomachs, greed, and unemployment may be outweighing faith and fear."
Another user commented, "What's the use of folding hands and then doing wrong?"
A third user wrote, "Seems like they wanted to make sure Hanumanji knew they were taking his jewelry. Next time, they should just ask for his blessings and not his bling."
