Darwen Couple's Double Lottery Win Sparks Rs 6 Crores Windfall for Neighbours

In a stroke of extraordinary luck, a Darwen couple has won the lottery not once, but twice, in just three weeks, leading to a collective windfall for their entire neighbourhood.

Neil, an electrician, and his partner Hayley had their fortunes change dramatically just three months after joining the People’s Postcode Lottery. The couple, who recently moved into their new home, initially won a £10 prize in their first month of participation. However, their luck took a significant turn when they secured a £30,000 (Rs 33,17,980) prize soon after.

"We just bought the house three months ago. I got a 10-pound prize the first month and now 30,000-pound," Neil shared, reflecting on their unexpected win.

The couple’s winning streak didn’t end there. Merely three weeks later, their postcode struck gold again, bringing in another cash prize, although smaller in amount than the first.

The success of Neil and Hayley sparked excitement in their community, leading them to encourage their neighbours to join the lottery as well. The results were astonishing. A total of 18 residents from the area participated, resulting in collective winnings of £540,000 (approximately ₹5.97 crore). The entire neighbourhood was thrilled, with all the winners sharing in the joy and excitement of their life-changing windfall.

Emma, a neighbour of Neil, expressed her excitement, stating, “It is amazing to win a lottery with your neighbours. We were all talking to each other, and it brought the street together. Many of us are planning to go on vacation with the amount.”

Mark, another neighbour, is considering a more permanent reminder of his good fortune. "I might get Sonic this time. My little boy loves that. Off the top of my head, I might also get the lottery logo in there. I'll tell the tattooist what I want, and he'll do a good job," he said.
