A product designer named Shreyas revealed he quit his job on his very first day due to "toxic work conditions" and "unreasonable demands" from his manager. He shared his resignation letter on Reddit, and it quickly went viral, starting many discussions about bad workplaces.
Shreyas took a job with a pay lower than usual because he wanted to work remotely. However, his excitement faded fast when his manager set extreme expectations. The manager asked Shreyas to work overtime without extra pay and called work-life balance a "fancy term" for "Western developed nation behaviour."

Starting on October 7, Shreyas was shocked to find out that his manager expected him to work 12 to 14 hours a day instead of the agreed-upon nine hours. When he tried to set boundaries, the manager mocked him and made fun of his need for personal time to read and exercise.
The E-Mail He Sent to the Manager
In his resignation post, Shreyas criticized his manager for making personal attacks, being belittling, and having an unprofessional attitude towards work-life balance. He noted that while some overtime is okay, the toxic environment and personal insults were too much to handle.
"This experience highlights a bigger issue of toxic work culture," he said, encouraging others to focus on their health and well-being. Many users supported Shreyas, praising him for standing up against such behavior.
Manager's Response on the Mail
Several people shared their own experiences with bad workplaces, admiring Shreyas’s decision. One user commented, "; You made a good point. Seems like what i said was misunderstood. Let's agree to disagree and part ways," while another called the resignation email "one of the best they'd ever seen." Another one said, “This has got to be one of the best worded emails I have ever read. Kudos to your skill and integrity.”
The story has started more conversations about workplace expectations and the importance of keeping personal boundaries.
