The news of Ratan Tata's passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes both online and offline, coinciding with India's Navratri celebrations. In Mumbai, attendees at a Garba and Dandiya night took a moment to pay homage to the iconic industrialist, stopping their dance to honour his legacy.

“The highlight of this Garba night was paying tribute to the esteemed Ratan Tata Sir on his passing, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Navratri . We sincerely hope his soul finds peace, especially on such a sacred day,” shared X user Fenil Kothari, who posted a clip of the tribute where attendees illuminated the venue with their phone flashlights as singers performed in his honour.

People held their mobile phones in the hands and turned on the flashlights to pay tribute to Mr Ratan Tata.  

Ratan Tata, the Tata Group’s chairman emeritus, passed away at the age of 86 at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital late Wednesday night. A recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, he had been hospitalised for the past few days before his death at 11:30 PM, as confirmed by a top police official.

In another poignant moment, a video from a Garba night at Goregaon's NESCO compound captured hundreds observing a moment of silence for Ratan Tata.

From Bollywood to Politics: A Wave of Tributes for Mr Ratan Tata

Tributes have poured in from various sectors, highlighting Tata's immense impact. Bollywood actor Boman Irani remarked, “Ratan Tata will remain even in the afterlife as one of the finest citizens in modern India.” Riteish Deshmukh expressed his sorrow, stating, “Deeply saddened to know that Shri #RatanTata ji is no more. Condolences to the family and loved ones. Rest In Glory Sir.”

Rana Daggubati recognized Tata as “The Icon of leadership, philanthropy, and ethics!! His legacy will continue to inspire generations. India has lost a giant today.” Ajay Devgn added, “The world mourns the loss of a visionary. Ratan Tata's legacy will forever inspire generations. His contributions to India and beyond are immeasurable. We are deeply grateful. Rest in peace, Sir.”

Randeep Hooda referred to Ratan Tata as “India’s most valuable man, not necessarily for his vast wealth, but for his values," emphasizing the importance of integrity in Tata's life.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted late at night, “Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses.”

Mukesh Ambani noted, “With the demise of Mr Ratan Tata, India has lost one of her most illustrious and kind-hearted sons. Mr Tata took India to the world and brought the best of the world to Bharat.” He added, “Ratan, you will always remain in my heart.”

Gautam Adani also expressed his condolences, stating, “India has lost a giant, a visionary who redefined modern India's path.” Anand Mahindra shared his grief, saying, “I am unable to accept the absence of Ratan Tata,” acknowledging the significance of Tata’s contributions to India’s economic landscape.
