Bengaluru: A recent video capturing piles of garbage in Bengaluru has left the internet furious. The video, reportedly from the city's MS Palya area, highlights a growing waste management crisis.

The footage, shared on X by @karnatakaportf, shows garbage spread across approximately a kilometer of MS Palya road. The caption read: “Bengaluru, once proudly known as the 'Garden City' for its lush greenery and clean environment, is unfortunately transforming into a 'Garbage City' due to poor waste management practices and the inefficiency of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).”

The user also called for BBMP’s urgent intervention, adding: “The BBMP must step up and take immediate measures to address this crisis. This includes increasing the frequency of garbage collection, penalizing littering, educating the public about waste management, and ensuring proper disposal methods.”

The video has garnered 16.2K views, sparking widespread criticism of the authorities' handling of waste management.

A user commented: "Why has this garbage problem spiraled out of control in every city in the past 5–6 years? Pune too was once clean and green. But now, like this video of Bengaluru, every street in Pune has overflowing garbage."

Another remarked: "Rising levels of filth and garbage across the Garden City. BBMP should show more commitment and dedication. They need to do more to clear the spiraling growth of garbage waste. BBMP and existing NGOs must streamline operations and adopt better eco-friendly disposal methods."

A third user suggested: "A proper scientific method has to be introduced to solve this problem permanently. This has been going on for decades. The issue can be resolved, but only if the administrators of BBMP have the intention to fix it."

Meanwhile, another user questioned the citizens’ role in the issue: "The first question is, who (citizens) are throwing garbage on the roads? Second, why was it not cleared on time?"

A last comment also suggested to rename the city as ‘Garbage’ city from the Garden City.
