Gurugram: A Gurugram woman’s distressing account of her ride with an Ola cab driver has highlighted serious safety issues women face. The incident occurred while she was en route to Delhi Airport to catch an early flight.

Taking to LinkedIn, the victim detailed her experience, explaining that she was in a rush and had booked rides with both Ola and Rapido. She chose Ola as she had been a previous passenger with them.

However, her trust in the company was shattered when, just 10 minutes into the ride, the driver stopped midway to fill his bottles and demanded payment via QR code before continuing. The woman insisted on ending the ride before final payment, but the driver responded with threats, even raising his hand as if to slap her and saying, "I'll hit you so hard."

The driver became increasingly aggressive, speaking in Haryanvi and threatening, "I'll come back at night and show you what happens," she recounted on LinkedIn. Despite her attempts to remain calm, the driver allegedly yelled at her and recorded a video without her consent.

The woman managed to escape, book another cab, and safely reach the airport. She thanked the second driver for getting her to the airport on time and even paid him a little extra as a gesture of appreciation.

The woman stated that she would take immediate action against the driver.

Her post garnered significant attention, with one user commenting, "I once had a similar incident, though not as intense. It was a Rapido driver who started verbally abusing me when I refused to pay extra money. However, Rapido has an emergency call option for reporting such issues (I'm not sure if Ola has the same). In my experience, Rapido's customer support is more reliable and quicker in its actions."

Another user suggested she make the driver's number public so that he faces consequences and learns to never behave like this again.
