Parents often teach lessons to their kids so that they can learn manners and discipline but sometimes they get too harsh on them. And in a similar way a case has been reported against a mother who made her daughter walk barefoot for 20 minutes on a hot asphalt road, when the temperature was 34 degree celsius. The case was reported on 14 July, in Hsinchu City, northern Taiwan.
According to the reports, the woman was angry with her daughter who lost her shoes and instead of buying her a new pair of shoes, she forced her to walk on the asphalt road with naked feets in the scorching heat of 34 Degrees Celsius for 20 minutes. While this, the little girl was crying and saying, “Mum, it's so hot, my feet hurt so much.” She was seen jumping to save her feet from getting burned, but her mother didn’t stop her and continued to drag her along.

According to reports, a woman who was standing there and witnessing everything asked the mother what was going on and why is she doing all this, to which her mother replied, “The child lost it herself and I don't have money to buy her shoes.”
The passer-by asked, “Isn't this too cruel? What you are doing is child abuse.” In response, the mother shouted back, “Go ahead and call the police if you want.”

A concerned woman offered to buy shoes for a child she saw walking barefoot, but the mother declined. The woman then followed the mother and daughter for about 20 minutes before contacting the police. After receiving her report, local authorities dispatched social workers to the family’s home. The social workers discovered blisters and burns on the girl's feet and took her to the hospital.
The case is now under review by the Hsinchu County Social Affairs Department. They will investigate the situation for possible abuse. If the abuse is deemed an isolated incident, the mother will be required to attend parenting classes. However, if ongoing abuse is identified, the department will take further action.
